A few of my designs are going into Design Within Reach.

Well, that's a bit misleading. They won't be for sale in the catalog. They won't really even be for sale, really. But nonetheless, a few of my designs are going to be exhibited at Design Within Reach. And that's still really exciting.

Design Within Reach is curating it's annual Modern+Design+Function competition & exhibition, where the focus is on innovative new furniture created by Chicago designers/makers. I just got the news yesterday afternoon that DWR had chosen 21 winners (out of 260+ entries!) and I was involved in TWO of the winning entries! The first is personal project-- a ceramic salt cellar & pepper shaker set, and the second is collaboration with my friend George-- a flat-packed side table that is folded into form by the purchaser. Now the challenge is to take these two conceptual designs and create prototypes by the February 15th exhibition date.

As things develop I'll try to post a few pictures here. I also hope anyone reading this can make the February 15th exhibition/reception at the Design Within Reach on North Avenue. There's always free drinks & food, an exciting exhibition of Chicago furniture design, and the announcement of the grand winners. Also coming in the next few weeks: the launch of my personal design site, craightonberman.com.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some work to do...
